Rose has always been treated like an outsider by her family, which has left her feeling like a loser. Despite this, Rose remains kind-hearted and sincere.
However, she has developed a “people-pleasing” personality as a coping mechanism to make herself more accepted by her family. Rose never stood up for herself, and it almost ruined her character and mental health.
One day, Rose gave up on pleasing others and learned about “Transparent Therapy.” She wants to take the treatment to be brave and to avoid being treated as a tool by her family.
– Office Room — Day
Rose and Vijay are sitting across from each other on a leather sofa.
Rose: I want to take the treatment.
Vijay: What’s the percentage?
Rose: 100 %. I want to be able to live my life 100 % honest.
Vijay: That’s a challenging path to take.
Rose: Can you provide the service or not?
— Moments Later —
Vijay: The effects will kickstart on the fourth day. But you must take the pill for the next three weeks.
Rose: How do I take it?
Vijay: Night. You shouldn’t drink alcohol with it. At the end of the three weeks, you must pay a visit to make the final decision.
Rose: What’s the final decision?
Vijay: End of the three weeks, you must decide if you want to keep the treatment permanent or remove it from your system.
Rose: What if I want to remove it from my system?
Vijay: We will give you a specific treatment for that.
Rose: Do I need to pay separately for that?
Vijay: No, either way, you will pay the same. It’s all covered in the initial payment.
Rose: I don’t think I need this forever. I will remove it from my system.
Vijay: You don’t have to decide now. Take the treatment first, then choose wisely.
Rose: When can I start the treatment?
Vijay: Once you sign the papers and make the payments.
Rose: Why’s that?
Vijay: Because as much you started the treatment, you will fuck me over.
Rose: Fuck you over?
Vijay: Sometimes, people who took the treatment refused to pay me. So, the company policy is money first before anything. If I’m selling “Transparency,” at least I should possess a fragment of that. So, read, sign, and pay.
Rose nods: “Understood.”
– Three Weeks Later –
Rose is visiting her family for the holidays. However, this time, Rose is not worried about facing the same mistreatment from her family that she has endured her entire life. Now, Rose is a new and “honest” version of herself. If anyone needs to be cautious, it’s her family.
Rose and her family are having dinner together. Her family includes her mother, father, sister, Jane, and sister’s husband, Mateo.
The rest of the family is enjoying their meal and chatting away. Rose eats alone and is the only one without a partner at the dining table. She finishes her water and looks to refill her glass with wine.
Rose turns to Jane and asks,
Rose: Can you pass me the wine?
Jane is in the middle of a chat with Mateo and pauses as Rose calls her.
Jane: Can you “please?”
Jane insists on asking her again, but this time with a “Please”.
Rose: Can you pass me the wine, ‘please,’ sister?
Jane passes the wine.
Rose refills her glass and takes a sip, but she doesn’t like it.
Jane: It’s from my best friend’s vineyard.
Rose: It tastes like piss.
Mum: Watch your mouth, Rose. Your sister put a lot of effort into arranging this dinner.
Jane: Exactly. Why are you being ungrateful, Rose?
Rose ignores her Mum and asks Jane another question.
Rose: How much did your friend charge for the wine?
Jane: What?
Rose: Hey Mateo, how much did her friend charge for the wine?
Mateo: It was free.
Rose: All five bottles?
Mateo: Yes.
Jane pinches Mateo’s thigh under the table, insisting he shut his mouth. Mateo immediately understands and nods gently at Jane.
